Airport Transfer to Melville Manor Guest House
Melville Manor has an airport transfer service. We use our trusty cab driver, Levy Nthloro. It is R450.00 for the first person and then R50.00 per head thereafter. This is payable to Levy directly. An airport transfer needs to be arranged before arrival and we would need the flight number, terminal and time of arrival in order to organise prior to your arrival.
Max number of people is 4 - luggage depending.
The Gautrain is Johannesburg's fast train and operates similarly to the London Underground. It does have an airport link which goes to either Rosebank or Park Station. These are the two stations close to us. One will still require a cab to get from the station to Melville Manor and this can be in the region of R80 - R150.00.
Have a look at the Gautrain website for more details & timetables.
Levy the wonderful Cab Driver
Levy is often parked outside Melville Manor and he is a great person to know should you either require transport to your work place, medical institution or for tourist attractions.

If you are not hiring a car, I would suggest relying on Levy, our cab driver. He is a fantastic gentleman who is willing to take you on any kind of tailor-made tour or even just a drop off somewhere. Melville Manor Guest House organises the airport transfers with him but they need to be made directly through us. Any other transport can be dealt directly through him.

A new mode of transportation for us Joburg dwellers are the Tuk Tuks. These 3-wheeled vehicles are very affordable and go anywhere within a 10 km radius of Melville. They are definitely not as reliable as a cab, so ensure that time is on your side.
Have a look at their website for more details.
The Tuk Tuks do drop off near the Red Hop-on Hop-off bus station.
Loved staying at this guesthouse. It's a quiet and small place in the lush area of Melville, close to many nice restaurants and bars. The staff was very helpful and nice, which adds to the cosy atmosphere here.
Anna and her team have the welcome and workings of this guest house down to a fine art, all accomplished with a minimum of fuss and a very hospitable, friendly manner. Roomy accommodation, delightful gardens and a generous breakfast are the highlights - all within easy walking distance to Melville's cafes, bars and bookshop.
Really nice house in the middle of Melville. A lot of shops and restaurants are nearby. Clean rooms and friendly staff make you feel welcome. Liked the garden with pool and the breakfast in the morning. Thanks Anna! Next time I'm in Joburg I'll come definately back to Melville Manor.
I've stayed at Melville Manor several times and it is always a pleasant, friendly experience. The rooms are nicely appointed and very reasonable (especially if you're willing to share a bathroom), the staff is excellent - Anna and Caroline took fantastic care of me this visit - and the breakfast is delicious; it can be as elaborate or simple as you like. In addition, it's less than a block... Read More
